Art Inspiration: Renovations and Roses

 

Hello My Fellow Art Lovers- ““I love work and working and how it shapes you. When you build a house, you have both a house and a builder. When you plant a garden, you have plants and a gardener, too.” - Shellen Lubin I am deep in the renovations of my church house in Abingdon! “How is it going?” you ask. The crew tore out the altar and… the rotten sections of flooring. Whew. I am doing what I can to contribute. I built this window frame! Meanwhile in Raleigh we had our “Ancestors” art show at Anchorlight. We included my grandmother’s hope chest. I refinished it and added a collage of her life and family in the lid. My mother recently finished the butterfly quilt. It was first started by her grandmother, Addie, in the 1930s. The best art projects take time! And what with all of this excitement I fantasize about Italy, summer and roses. So I started a new roses painting… beginning with this collage in my notebook. Here is the painting step by step and finished!
